Miami Beach Family Photography Session

It was a warm Miami morning. I met this family of three at the beach behind the Fontainebleau for a sunrise session. Their sweet, adorable son was enthralled by the water. The waves excited him and called his attention. He laughed as the waves came ashore and covered his feet in sandy, bubbly water. His parents walked with him along the water’s edge, the rising sun illuminating their faces with it’s warm glow. His mom held him and walked into the water; his dad played with him in the sand. When they both lifted him toward the sky, he pretended he was a bird, soaring over the sandy terrain below him.

Spending an hour with this family was a complete joy. I think it captures this family perfectly as they are today – pouring their love and attention into their joyous son, who is curious and excited about the world around him.

I so loved photographing these two and their family on their wedding day! We met at Bill Baggs State Park, which is at the very end of Key Biscayne. It’s located close to the historic Cape Florida Lighthouse. Lisette mentioned to me that they were hoping to get a beautiful sunset for their ceremony.

I anxiously looked at the weather, which had been cloudy all day. I know from the past that the weather can change in a short time, so it’s best not to worry about it (still hard to do). As I drove from Miami Beach to Key Biscayne, the weather began to change. The clouds opened up to a beautiful blue sky, and the sun cast its bright light over the island.

it was a very small, intimate ceremony. They chose to wear jersey tops and casual bottoms – my kind of people! They are so down to earth, warmhearted and loving people. Since I arrived a bit early, I had the chance to photograph the girls – I adore the photos of them hugging! They are incredibly sweet and charming kids.

Once the wedding officiant arrived and the papers were signed, the ceremony began. It was a beautiful and emotional moment. We took advantage of the warm light from the setting sun, photographing the four of them just before the island would be engulfed in the blue cast of twilight.

This family was all together for for the Jewish holiday of Passover. With a large, extended family of 25 people, it can be difficult to get everyone together, let alone for pictures! Lots of credit to these people, who managed to make it happen. They were a pleasure to photograph. We started off photographing each family and then took the great big, group photograph. I love the one of the grandparents with all the grandkids, they squeezed together for one big group hug. We got a few candid photos as well. With a large family, one hour flies by fast!
