For this Family of Three Miami Maternity Photographer session, we met at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa for a sunrise session at the beach. This family was so incredibly sweet. Their little girl was adorable and definitely enjoyed being the center of attention for a little while longer. She was so cute when she kissed her mom’s belly and placed her head as if to listen to the baby’s heartbeat.

Rodney contacted me about planning a surprise proposal for his girlfriend. We decided to meet at South Pointe Park. They spent some time in Little Havana and then took an uber to the park. I sat on a bench nervously waiting for them. He sent me a photo in advance so I knew who to look for, and he also texted me a description of their outfits. It was a weekend and South Pointe was bustling. When I saw them pass by me, I followed from a distance as they walked toward the beach. Since the beach itself was full of people, Rodney walked with her onto the rocks overlooking the water. I followed about 15 feet behind them. Milly looked around her to see if someone was around to take their photograph. Trying to be discreet, I pretended to photograph the view. Since no one else was around, Milly approached me: do you mind taking a photo of us? Little did she know that just minutes later Rodney would be proposing to her. She had no idea and was completely in shock and emotional. Meanwhile, everyone around us started cheering and clapping. It was a special moment.
This Miami Beach Surprise Proposal featured in Martha Stewart Weddings session took place at South Pointe Park before sunset. For a list of some of my favorite spots, check out this list of locations in Miami for a photo shoot.
I met this beautiful, sweet couple at the 1 Hotel South Beach for a sunrise session. The 1 Hotel has a nice lobby (which actually gets quite full even early in the morning!) and a beautiful pool in the back where we took a few photos. We then went to the beach for the remainder of the session. This couple is expecting their first child soon and I’m so excited and happy for them!
The 1 Hotel is very close to Collins Park (where the Bass Museum is), so one option would be to photograph part of the session there and then walk across the street to get beach photographs for the second half of the session. Suggestions for your maternity session:
Bring 2 outfits to change it up. You can bring 1 dressier outfit for the greenery/urban area, and 1 more casual, flowy dress for the beach. You can get ideas of what to wear from this Maternity Pinterest board I assembled from past maternity sessions.
If your session is at the beach, always bring a towel and change of clothes – especially if you need to change and clean up before getting in a taxi/uber to get back to your hotel.
Bring water, especially during Miami’s warmer months. It’s important to stay hydrated!
Decide if you want to go in the water and if so, bring an outfit you don’t mind getting wet. Don’t forget a towel and change of clothes!
Have fun during the session! It will go by quicker than you think 🙂 Don’t stress about how to stand or poses – I’ll guide you during the session, but don’t hesitate to let me know if there’s something specific you have in mind.
