I often feel like I get to meet with the kindest people, and this session was no different. We talked beforehand about their vision for their photo session. They wanted a place that represented Florida – it’s raw wildness and beautiful nature – as they were soon moving out of state and wanted permanent memories of home. We met at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, one of my favorite spots in Miami – both for relaxing beach days and for photo sessions. It’s one of the few places in Miami that has ample parking – a side benefit – along with tall beach grass and an abundance of coconut palms that dot the shoreline. As soon as you step onto the beach it feels like you’ve walked into a tropical paradise.
This session took place 1.5 hours before sunset, in time to capture golden hour. Since it was a weekday, it was quiet with few people around. On weekends it does get very lively as locals flock here to relax, barbeque and swim.
Check out other photo sessions at Crandon Park on the blog. There is a flat rate parking fee payable through the Pay by Phone or ParkMobile app. For family photography at Crandon Park, I recommend a sunrise session or 1-2 hours before sunset. Weekdays are also preferable over the weekends for less people in the background.
