Bal Harbour Family Photographer Sunrise Beach Session

I met this family for a sunrise beach session in Bal Harbour, Florida. They have two boys and in the beginning of the session the baby was peacefully sleeping. After spending some time by the ocean, we went into the greenery nearby and set a blanket down on the sand under some sea grape trees. It was a perfect shady spot once the sun became a little too intense. The baby woke up which was great because we were able to get some great photos of him smiling. You always get the best reactions from babies when their parents talk and play with them.

The grandparents also joined in for a few photos. They were also super helpful in getting the kids’ attention for some of the pictures. I love when everyone is involved in the session. Whenever I photograph kids I carry along some animal puppets to get their attention and make the photo session more fun. Sometimes family members offer to hold the puppets for me and I’m happy to oblige haha. Otherwise I manage to hold the camera in one hand and the puppet in the other (although I have an adorable monkey that goes around the camera lens as well).
