Legion Park Family Photo Session in the MiMo District

Legion Park, or Legion Memorial Park, is a small oasis of greenery located by the Biscayne Bay. Established in the early 1920s, the park originally served as a gathering place for American Legion veterans, honoring their service and sacrifices.

It has beautiful moss-draped oak trees, a small tennis court, workout equipment, and a flat expanse of green by the water. It’s a popular spot for locals who live in the area to walk their dog, get some exercise or buy local produce, plants and flowers from the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.

I was so happy to finally get the opportunity to photograph there when this family suggested meeting there since they live close by. We met up early one morning to capture photos with their sweet baby and dog.

They love living in the MiMo district (Miami Modern) and I can see why. It’s a great central location in Miami with plenty of restaurants and shops. It’s close to the bay and very happening lively districts such as Wynwood, the Design District, downtown Miami and Little Haiti.

This Legion Park Family Photo Session took place in the spring time. Any time of year or even time of day can work for a photo session here since there’s plenty of shade in some sections of the park.
