It was beautiful “winter” day in December when I met this family at the historic Deering Estate. Their son is graduating from high school and needed senior photos, so that was the main focus of the session. They also wanted to jump in for a few photos to get some family pictures of the entire family for Christmas.

We really couldn’t have lucked with better weather. We initially planned on meeting in the morning around 10-11am but ended up meeting at 1:30pm instead. The beauty of a place like the Deering Estate is that you can photograph mid-day when the sun is usually way too bright and harsh in open areas like the beach, but works really well at the estate since there is plenty of shade. There’s also so many backgrounds and locations to use. There’s a mango orchard in the front, several historic structures that make for a wonderful backdrop for photos, and it’s located on the water by the Biscayne Bay.

The Deering Estate charges a $100 + tax permit fee to photograph there (includes up to 4 people, additional guests have to pay the regular admission fee) but I think it is worth it (in comparison, Vizcaya charges a $160 and $267 permit fee for weekday/weekends as of today, March 2019.) You can read about the Deering Estate’s history on their website.

So grateful I got to work with this wonderfully sweet, kind family. They left me this super kind review after their photo session:

From identifying the best locations for a family photo session, capturing the true personalities of each family member, expeditiously processing and returning our photos, to delivering an amazing collection of pictures that we’ll cherish forever; Tova provided outstanding service at a great value. Stop researching this decision and contact her; you won’t regret it.

This Deering Estate Family and Senior Photographer in Miami session took place at the Charles Deering Estate which is located in Miami, Florida.
