There’s nothing like a surprise proposal session that gets your adrenaline going. Josue planned an early dinner reservation at Smith & Wollensky and then took a walk with Sandra by the scenic South Pointe walkway leading to the beach. He actually told her that they would be meeting a photographer for a photo shoot on the beach 🙂 (but I didn’t meet her until after the proposal!)
He got down on one knee near the lifeguard stand, where Sandra excitedly said yes!! while I stood off a short distance away capturing it all. We then took engagement style photos afterward – and I couldn’t have enjoyed working with these two more. They were so giddy in love, completely smitten and enraptured with each other.
If there’s anything I could recommend to couples planning an engagement session it would be this: yes, I’ll give you ideas, direction and set you up in photos, but the emotional aspect of the imagery, what makes it captivating is the love and emotion you have for each other. The loving way you look into each others eyes. The way you get lost in his hugs. The way you are able to make her smile and laugh. Those are the moments that I try my best to create, because it is those photos that you will look back at and remember with an overwhelming sense of joy and nostalgia.
