Miami Senior Photographer: South Pointe Park and Wynwood

This family was visiting Miami and missed the opportunity of getting warm weather shots of their son in their hometown of Missouri. They were staying in South Beach and wondered if there were neat spots in the area to take senior pictures. I recommended South Pointe Park and Wynwood to them and they decided to go with both locations to get both a scenic and urban vibe. A 2 hour session afforded us the perfect amount of time to not feel rushed and explore both areas.

For senior photos, it’s a great idea to bring a long more than one outfit, especially if you are going to more than one location. I loved working with Collins on this sessions to get a variety of senior portraits – serious, smiling, plus a few candid moments. We even snuck in a couple of family portraits at the end!

For the Wynwood area, it’s best to explore it in the late morning before crowds arrive. Also – there are plenty of murals in the area besides for the ones in the Wynwood Walls itself so you don’t have to limit yourself to the specific times that the Walls are open and having to work with crowds of people in the same space.

South Pointe Park is quieter in the mornings as well, but the light is beautiful both in the morning and afternoon. For beach sessions, sticking to early mornings around sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset is the best time for optimal lighting.
