Life with little ones is unexpected and can only be planned to a point. So a session with kids means you never know exactly how it will go. This is a good thing, because with kids you get authenticity; real moments, real reactions. You can try to plan, you can try to direct, but only to a point. Well these kiddos and their beautiful mamma were so full of life, energy and love. The way they interacted together made for some of my favorite images: the sweet moments between two siblings who are so different but still adore one another; the little girl reaching out to feel the water, her older brother listening intently to the story his mom reads to them. Moments unplanned, moments that reflect who they are at this moment in time.

This National Hotel South Beach Family Photographer session took place in the afternoon a couple of hours before sunset. We photographed entirely on the grounds of the National Hotel in South Beach and I thought it made for a great backdrop. We thought about going to the beach but it was mostly blocked off and we would have had to walk a couple of blocks to get to it. She decided to stay at the hotel and I was glad she did. There were some great areas near the pool and some beautiful, natural lighting in the lobby as well.
