Surprise Proposal at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach
Sometimes, life gets in the way. Sometimes, I realize years later I never blogged a session I really want to share with the world. This is one of those sessions. It was December 2022, and I was in the middle of a very busy season of photo sessions. December is usually the busiest month of all, with lots of locals wanting family sessions during the holidays, and lots of tourists visiting beautiful Miami and booking family, couple and- surprise proposals sessions!
I remember getting a phone call from Mat about wanting to book a surprise proposal session. Their friends were around as supporting actors – and they were so helpful! Mat is an interior designer, amongst his other talents. I love that he chose a very unique place – the Faena Forum – to frame this once-in-a-lifetime moment. (The Faena Forum is located close to the famous Faena Miami Beach hotel. Even if you don’t stay there, it is worth a visit.)
I arrived early, as did Mat and Nick’s friends. If my memory serves me correctly, they put tape down where he should kneel. That way I could frame the photos exactly as I wanted -with the curve of the building and the curve of the pavement framing the top and bottom of the images. Their friends also sneaked to the side, filming the entire proposal.
There was such palpable joy and excitement when Nick said yes. Their friends popped out with champagne to celebrate. We then walked over to the beach for more photos of the happy couple – and some with the whole group as well. What a day!
When I sent off their gallery, I got this really sweet reply:
