Family Photo Session Grand Beach Hotel Surfside

I photographed this family of four, with two adorable boys, at the beach behind the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside. It has beautiful sandy pathways lined with beach grass and tropical trees so there are different areas to photograph at. We started photographing in front of a tropical-looking Sea Grape tree which was perfect shade until the sun would dip a little lower. I like to start with a family portrait and then take individual photos of each parent and child (trust me, these make for very treasured photos later in life!).

You can’t expect kids to look at the camera for an entire hour – and I wouldn’t want them to! So what I like to focus on afterwards are more in-the-moment candid style photos where you can play with your kids and also let them run around for a little while. You can throw them in the air, tickle them, and just love on them – lots of hugs, cuddling and doting on them. If they end up crying or cranky for part of the time, I capture that too! All these moments with your kids are fleeting, and I think even the messy moments are beautiful too –  with tears running down their cheeks, while you are there to comfort them. I want to capture all of it.

For this Family Photo Session Grand Beach Hotel Surfside, we met up before sunset. The best time for a beach session is either after sunrise or 1-2 hours before sunset.
